LCH opens Wigan Doors in £750k refurbishment

LCH Generators, one of Britain’s leading generator hire specialists, have open the doors of their new North West UK distribution centre following a £1 million transformation programme by Birmingham based Welconstruct.

The 1300 sq m (13200 sq ft) warehouse, factory unit and office accommodation complex was completely stripped out during the 14-week works programme at the former run down industrial site near Wigan in Greater Manchester.

External works also included new cladding, a new roof and the construction of a hardstanding car park to accommodate staff and visitors alike.

Welconstruct commented: “We are delighted to have played our role in transforming this dilapidated site and helping LCH launch such a major UK depot for the North West. The new Wigan outlet fills a strategic gap in the company’s nationwide coverage between Glasgow to the North and Coventry to the South.”

John Pirrie, Managing Director of LCH Generators added: “We were looking for a high quality programme of work delivered in a timescale to suit our needs and to complement the work programme of our other locations. Welconstruct was highly recommended for their industrial expertise and understanding and commitment of our priorities and timescales.”

From their head office in Glasgow, the company provides coverage nationwide from six depots in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Coventry, London, Portsmouth and Wigan. Today the hire fleet consists of around 1900 sets, ranging from 10kVA to 1260kVA. The customer base is made up of companies working in construction, telecommunications, manufacturing, events management and electrical contractors.

Consultant surveyors for the scheme were Grenville Smith & Duncan of Sheffield.
