In 2001 De Beers Industrial Diamonds needed to move from their existing art deco 1930's building to a more practical modern Industrial shed. One was found in nearby Ascot, a 10,000 sq ft unit, with a separate front office block. Their requirement was for laboratory and office accommodation.
To fulfil this requirement we provided a structural mezzanine floor across the whole unit to give the 20,000 sq ft they required. This enabled the programme to be shortened with the laboratory build with extensive mechanical and electrical works to be carried out on the ground floor with the office fit-out on the first.
Due to the enormous power requirement, an extra 1.5 MVA cable was laid from Ascot Town Centre to the site, 3km away.
The work was completed in 16 weeks including the external building works and landlords improvement works.
